If you’re already thinking about creating a beautiful and eye-catching centrepiece for Christmas, here’s how to make one with corks. If you have several used wine corks and don’t want them to end up in the bin, here’s how to recycle them to create this beautiful Christmas craft. The idea is to use cork stoppers to create a beautiful centrepiece that will decorate your Christmas table, but you can also adapt it to any other event or theme. Here is a step-by-step guide to this simple and fun craft.
How to create a centrepiece with used cork stoppers?
Materials
- Cork stoppers
- Varnish
- Glue or cold silicone
- Christmas decorations
- Small candles

Using old corks, create a beautiful centrepiece. The first step is to look for corks that are in good condition, as they will be on display and we don’t want to create a centrepiece with broken or badly stained corks. The next step is to arrange the corks in a circle. Remember to leave an empty space in the centre, i.e. you don’t need to create a very closed circle.
Once you have achieved a centrepiece shape that you like, start gluing them together with silicone or glue. We recommend that the centrepiece has two tiers, as this will make it much more eye-catching on the table. At this point, you must decide whether to leave the corks “natural” and give them a coat of varnish, or whether you want to give them a coat of green, red, gold, etc. paint. The last step is to decorate the centrepiece with Christmas decorations, such as small pine trees, wooden houses, baubles, candles and whatever else you like. These decorations can be glued to the centrepiece or you can simply prop them up and change them depending on the time of year.
