Instead of throwing it away, place it behind the radiator. Your bills will quickly go down

A simple trick with the radiator Many of us face high heating bills, which leads us to look for effective methods to reduce them. The key to success is to limit heat loss, which can be achieved, among other things, with a simple trick using cardboard and aluminium foil. It is a cheap and environmentally friendly way to improve thermal comfort at home. Unfortunately, in many Polish homes, especially in older buildings, low energy efficiency is a problem. The heat from radiators evaporates quickly due to poor insulation of buildings and poorly sealed windows, which forces us to look for solutions that help with heating.

A simple method for everyone

A solution that is gaining popularity on the internet is to create a special panel out of cardboard and aluminium foil, which is placed behind the radiator. TikTok is full of tips, but one of the most popular appeared on the @the.cosyclub profile. All you need is: a piece of cardboard, aluminium foil and adhesive tape/nails. To make your own heat reflector panel, simply cut a rectangle of cardboard the right size to fit behind the radiator and then wrap it with aluminium foil, with the shiny side facing out. Make sure the foil fits snugly and is wrinkle-free. The finished panel is placed behind the radiator so that the reflected heat energy returns to the room. It can be attached to the wall with adhesive tape, nails or special brackets. It is important that it does not move during use.

How does the cardboard and aluminium foil panel work?

The mechanism is surprisingly simple — the aluminium foil acts as a screen, reflecting the heat back into the room. In addition, the cardboard creates an insulating layer that limits the penetration of heat into the walls. It is worth noting that the investment in the necessary materials is minimal, and the savings can be really significant. In short: using cardboard and aluminium foil behind the radiator is an effective way to reduce heating costs. Thanks to this method, even in old houses it is possible to significantly increase thermal efficiency without the need for costly repairs. We are interested in your opinion.
