FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?

Paint protection film (PPF) is a sophisticated vehicle wrap that applied to the body of a vehicle. The thin material provides a protective barrier across the vehicle bodywork to prevent common damage like chips, scratches, and fading.

Diamond Details uses the innovative SunTek Reaction Paint Protection Film. This advanced PPF film features a pre-ceramic coating for improved durability and protection. It also has self-healing properties, removing minor scratches and chips using heat from the sun or vehicle engine.

What are the Benefits of PPF?

PPF offers many benefits for a vehicle, namely offering a robust layer of protection for your bodywork. Once installed, a PPF wrap prevents minor surface damage from occuring, including small scratches and chips cause by loose road debris.

Another huge benefit of PPF is that it helps to maintain the paintwork of your vehicle. By adding a protective layer to the vehicle body, the paint is less susceptible to UV fading, ensuring your paint retains its original quality for much longer.

Also, our PPF is self-healing, meaning it can reverse existing damage!

How Does PPF Heal Scratches?

As mentioned above PPF has self-heating properties, so it can actively reduce surface damage to your vehicle bodywork. For example, our SunTek Reaction PPF features a self-healing layer several microns thick. Any scratches or chips that penetrate this layer will be healed by the PPF!

The PPF is self healing, and heals in temperatures over 32 degrees Celsius.

How Long Does It Take to Install PPF?

PPF installation is a relatively quick process, although installation times do vary depending on the size of the vehicle and how much PPF is installed. For example, a partial PPF installation is usually completed quicker than a full vehicle PPF installation.

Because we pre-cut wraps before application, the installation process is fast yet efficient, leaving a flawless finish on every vehicle.

Can PPF Be Used on Headlights?

Yes, PPF can be installed over headlights, offering an additional layer of protection. In fact, PPF is a great way to protect your headlights from chips and scratches caused by loose road debris.

However, some vehicle manufacturers already have applied a coating across the headlines, so PPF may damage the original coating. We’re happy to apply PPF across headlines, including it in all our PPF packages.

But if you want to avoid issues with your headline coatings, then let us know and we’ll leave them clear. We should be able to recognise if headlines have a special coating prior to applying PPF, so will always let you know before any work starts.
