A notification on social media reminds her to check if she is the winner of the prize. She decides to use the money to pay off outstanding debts, renovate her home and enjoy leisure time with her family. Debbie Truckermiller, an occasional Powerball player, while at the Giant store in the town of Exeter, decided to buy a lottery ticket that would turn out to be the winner of one million dollars. The maximum prize she could win was 400 million dollars or 190.7 million in cash.
After buying the ticket, this woman went about her life until, two days later, while washing the dishes, she saw something on Facebook that reminded her to check if she had won the prize. When she looked and saw that it matched five of the five white balls drawn, she couldn’t stop shouting to her husband, while he, incredulous, simply asked her to give him a minute because he had to put on his glasses.
What to do with the money

Now they had to think about how to spend this big prize, but it seems she had it clear from the start, because when sharing this story, they said that the winnings would go towards ‘helping them pay off some student loans’. In addition, they would also do ‘some renovations, holidays and investments’. This money would also be used to go see their favourite team: the Eagles.
Drew Svitko, executive director of the Pennsylvania Lottery, said in a statement: ‘On behalf of the Pennsylvania Lottery, we are very happy to celebrate Debbie’s win. During the giving season, we are proud to see how Lottery proceeds help provide meals, transportation and essential services to the elderly.’
